I’ve been working in design and marketing for over two decades. I hold a BA (Hons) and a DipHE in Graphic Design and Illustration, and my career has included agency work, in-house roles and freelance projects.

In my early agency days, I managed accounts for clients including Sony and Royal Mail. I later worked in-house as a marketing manager across several businesses, which gave me a solid grounding in strategy and communications. But it was always the visual side of marketing that drew me in, eventually leading me to retrain and formally qualify in design.

After qualifying, I spent twelve years as an in-house graphic designer, so I understand what works, both creatively and commercially.

I began freelancing alongside my in-house role and officially launched Orange Cat in 2015. It’s now my full-time business, where I bring all that experience together to offer thoughtful design to lovely clients!

Agencies can be brilliant! More heads around the table, lots of specialisms under one roof and big creative firepower. But they’re not always the right fit for every job.

And yes, budget is a part of it too. Because I work solo this keeps my fees down, so I can offer a more cost-effective option without compromising on quality or attention to detail.

I really do believe that decent design should be accessible to everyone. These days, it’s easier than ever to create your own materials using accessible design platforms and software, and it can be a good starting point for many. But just because you can do it yourself doesn’t always mean you should. When something represents your brand and your identity, it’s worth getting it right.

I work independently, which means I don’t have the overheads of a big agency. No office staff, no studio rent, no layers of management, (and as you can see, no fancy-schmancy website!) It’s just me, doing the work from my home office in Somerset. That allows me to keep my pricing fair and transparent.

Rather than ‘reassuringly expensive’, I aim for genuinely good value: thoughtful, high-quality design with a personal, collaborative approach.

The prices listed on my site are there as a guide and a starting point, but the final cost will always depend on the scope of the project, how comprehensive the brief is, and how many rounds of amends we go through. I’ll always make sure we talk it through clearly upfront and as the project progresses.
